Meet Team CLEANO®

CLEANO® Co-Founder, Lyle Smith

LYLE SMITH, AKA 'CLEANO MAN' (Co-founder)

Email: lyle.smith@cleano.net

Retired after 20 years of service with the Los Angeles Sheriff Department, Lyle Smith knows all about hazardous materials and their effects.

As one of the original three Hazardous Materials Investigators in California, Lyle can share with you firsthand how chemicals and their toxicity can affect you and the environment.

But it actually hit closer to home. Lyle suffered from chemically induced dermatitis on his hands and calves for years. He finally discovered he had developed an allergic response to a form of formaldehyde found in many cleaning products, including popular green ones.

Since developing and using CLEANO® exclusively in his home and on the worksite (Lyle's second career is a building and concrete inspector), his dermatitis has vanished. You can find Lyle on YouTube as the CLEANO® Man where he shares the power of VOC free cleaning with the world. Read Lyle's full story here

STEVE LACH, AKA 'THE PILOT' (Co-founder)

Email: steve.lach@cleano.net

Back in the day, Steve got his start as a lineman at Del Monte Aviation in Monterey, California. While at Del Monte, he fueled and serviced all types of aircraft, from a simple Cessna 150 all the way to Air Force Two.

He even met Art Scholl and serviced his P-51 Mustang while working at Del Monte.

Next up for Steve was a stint in Hawaii. While there he founded and operated the Hawaiian Island Spice Company for eleven years. It was while living the dream in Hawaii that he met Lyle.

He returned to the mainland to raise his family and he's started a couple more businesses since then. One was a microbrewery, near Yosemite, that he co-owned with Lyle.

One day, after cleaning the brewery equipment, he started to wonder if there was an opportunity for a GREEN industrial cleaner that was effective. The green cleaners he had used up to that point were either not as green as he'd like, or not powerful enough and a waste of time and money. He wanted a tough cleaner that could be used in clean rooms, in factories, and on the aircraft he used to clean as a lineman.

He called up his brother (below) who had a Masters in biology and background in biochemistry R&D, and the rest is CLEANO® history.

Dave Lach, Biochemist Behind CLEANO

DAVE LACH, AKA 'THE BIOCHEMIST' (Honorary Member)

The brother of co-founder Steve, Dave Lach was brought in for his expertise in bio-chemistry.

Dave has a Masters in Biology and has specialized in biochemistry R&D for nearly thirty years. He continues to work in private industry as a research and lead scientist for a highly-respected chemical manufacturing company. Dave introduced Lyle & Steve to the CLEANO® formulators.

After several formulations and lots of trial and error, Team CLEANO® finally got the formula they were looking for! CLEANO®'s unique proprietary blend cleans like a boss - emulsifying organic materials swiftly without any volatile organic compounds in the mix. While Dave still works in private industry, he has an honorary spot at the Team CLEANO® table and history.

(And besides, who doesn't love a crazy green scientist?)

SUE LACH (Steve's Wife & General Manager)

Email: sue.lach@cleano.net

Sue Lach jokes that her duty is keeping Lyle and Steve in line.

But as general manager, she really keeps CLEANO Inc in line and focused. While Steve and Lyle come up and execute the big ideas, she's at the helm making sure all the small shipments are being sent out, managing her husband's inbox, and keeping all the financial stuff in order.

She's the heart of Team CLEANO® and ensures nothing slips through the cracks and all the boxes are checked. And when Steve's hungry, she makes sure he's fed and ready to go.
